House Projects

We've been working on a few house projects lately.  I found some easy (ok, easier) to install back splash at Sam's Club (of all places) and I like how it turned out.  It took more time that we initially thought it would, but in reality, that's how almost all house projects go so we weren't surprised. :)

He's super handy to have around!!!

Next up, a bathroom in the basement.  We've wanted to do this for a long time and this year we decided it was time.  Our basement is used regularly by our kids, neighbor kids, Missional Community kids/friends and when our parents stay they usually sleep in the bed downstairs.  Not having a bathroom down there is doable, but we wanted to make our home a bit more pleasant for guests to hang out and to stay over.  The Holder Hotel will be open for business soon, so plan ahead and make your reservations!! :)

We still need to tape and texture, paint, lay down the flooring, install the plumbing and electrical and then we will be open for business!!

A teacher in the making?

She would make a TERRIFIC preschool teacher!  Listening to her teach Seth different things she has a lot of patience, she's a great encourager and rarely gets frustrated with him when she's teaching him.  I think I could learn from watching her!!

The Mohawk

Seth was in need of a hair cut and when Dan went to cut his hair he requested a mohawk.  Dad obliged and this is the result.  I seriously love his face in the second picture...it's such a 'Seth' look.  He's gotten quite a bit of attention from this hair do!

Under The Big Top

We were given tickets to the circus so we went and enjoyed an evening of fun!  We went a number of years ago, but Alayna didn't remember it and Seth wasn't born yet, so they were all excited to experience the circus for the first time and it was fun!

I admit, rather than paying $10/light up toy, I went to the dollar store that afternoon and bought glow bracelets and fun little swords.  $5 vs. $30 = money well spent! :)

This was probably the best act...2 motorcycles with endless stunts.  It was quite amazing to watch!!

The short ride home for the Fargo Dome was filled with silence as the kids were totally exhausted!!

School Programs!

Josiah & Alayna had their school programs this week.  I have to admit, I totally love school programs!  They are not perfect and that makes them all the more precious to me.

Every year he volunteers to play this instrument...do you know what it's called??  A boom whacker!  No wonder all the boys think it's so cool. :)

A couple days later, our zebra fish with spots rather than stripes (it made sense with the program).  She did an excellent job and was cute as can be...no, I'm not bias at all!! :)

Grandpa and Grandma Holder came to both programs, but I forgot to take a picture of them with Josiah...oops!
Our pretty little girl!!  Great job Alayna!!

A Weekend At Home

Last weekend we enjoyed being at home and began the long awaited job of putting a bathroom in our basement.  I can't tell you how excited I am to have a bathroom down there...it will be wonderful when we are playing down there, when it's used on Wednesday's for our Missional Community, and I'm super excited that it makes it a much more usable space for us to have guest stay over!!  Josiah had his fist lesson in using a saw and then he actually sawed a board for the first time and he did great...even better, he still had 10 fingers when he was done. :)

We also dog sat and Seth was certain that Harley (the dog) told him he wanted to go for a walk and so we did!

Last but not least, I love when sneaky Seth hops into bed with his big brother to sleep with him for the night. It is beyond precious and I can't help but take a picture. :)

My little book worm

She woke up and started reading her book again.  She is so sweet...I love that little girl!
